Ahh, it was the first day back from break, and I am sure people in the far corners of the earth heard all of the grumbling and sighs this morning :) Happy, happy Thursday, haha. So I know I am horrible about keeping up with this but after being home for break and hearing how disappointed everyone was, I will work at being better at keeping up with this.
So this post will be really short today, but I promise I will have something good for you tomorrow. Since the school week is only two days long this week, I am starting this semester off by having them write two, 5 paragraph essays over their Christmas break and Slaviq (pronounced sla-vik, its the Russian Orthodox Christmas?? I am working on finding out). I know, I know the shock, the horror, what a "so suck teacher" I am (yes I was called that today), and what is worse, I gave them the paragraph topics! So, after I have hopefully received maybe 30% of them back (and let us all pray I get that many) I will be posting some of their essays. This will give you a good sense of where these kids are and why however frustrating teaching is in the real world (lower 48) it is even more so here.
So for tonight farewell, and I will be back soon!
Awesome! Five paragraph essays were always my favorite! Never wrote one about Slaviq though.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely in the group of people who are always watching for your next post! Keep it up! We (ok, maybe just Katie) miss you!!
